So about 10 months ago, we made a fundraising video to inform everyone of our plans of moving to All Saints Centre in Kings Heath. In this video, we said how we hoped that by January 2015 we’d be in our new home. Today we did the ‘CLEAR OUT’ and we felt so excited that all of the work that has been done by ourselves and the community over the past 18 months has exploded into the excitement that was felt today.
Over the past five years the centre has been filled with junk and over the past 6 months it has been slowly emptied bit by bit. Today was the hard job, walls, doors, wood, plastic, screws, chairs with no seats, tables with no legs. Out turned the fabulous team (A massive thank you to you all) and got the job done in half the time we anticipated it would take. Thank you to those that turned up afterwards also, really appreciate you coming out.
Tom decided to run away to juggle his three pieces of wood…
All hands on deck…
Halo playing aerial silks…
Jeff and Zaq contemplating jumping into the junk pile…
The ‘basketball post move team’…
We had basket ball posts over our shoulders, buckets of cement on our head and a couple of sofa’s strapped to our backs. We like to give people the tools necessary to build the muscles that circus requires ;). Team curtain realised that they couldn’t climb the ‘curtains’ so opted to pull them down instead, which was a lovely sight seeing those 70’s drapes go. Team ‘woodnjunk’ did pretty nifty balancing the rubble high, and then balancing more on top… a skill we like to use a lot here. Team scrap-metal found a hoist of some kind… could we turn that into some weird aerial contraption… I think not. A massive thank you to the sweepers that intoxicated themselves with 10 years worth of dust and a shout out to crew ‘basket ball goal post’. Well done! That was one heavy. long post. A much easier job was had by Joe taking pictures of it. Overall it was a pretty circusy day i’d say.
At around 1. 50pm we were building pyramids and seeing how truly amazing the new space is. And there is Beth, a truly talented future circus star as she just hops on her dads shoulders so effortlessly. A huge thank you once again to everyone that helped today 🙂
