WELCOME TO MASH!
Each young person that works with MASH will be encouraged to take part in productions that take place each year.
Each class is 75 minutes long, term time and we have two troupes.

We teach circus, but we also teach empowerment and we believe every child has that ability to do anything and we create a safe environment to make this happen.

The one thing you need to know about as a parent/guardian of a circus performer is the Portal. The Portal is a one stop shop for all of the information that you will need as your child works with us. Coming Soon.
We are one big family at MASH so we like to look like one. We ask all of our students to invest into your “MASH WEAR”. This consists of a personalised Tshirt and Jacket. You will be required to wear black jogging bottoms or leggings also. (You do not need to get these from MASH). “MASH WEAR” needs to be worn at every circus session.
Students need a black Tshirt of their choice (2 designs available) and a CircusMASH purple jacket.
Only Birmingham Youth Circus are required to have a BYC Jacket.
Insurance Premiums are in place to cover your youth in very rare instances of injury.
September to August annual payment is £12 and price is adjusted should you start later in the year.
January – August £9
April – August £6
We find youth work harder if their parents are not around during class. We like to help them understand fear, and why our brain sometimes makes us not want to try things. With parents around their safety net makes them run away from what they might be scared of.
You know your children better than us, if you are worried, you are absolutely welcome to stay but we ask that you allow them to settle with you there so you feel comfortable that they are ok… and then allow us to help them understand how to overcome every fear that they will ever have.
We have a space access policy in place in all youth sessions. The door has a code lock on and the space will be locked during youth class times. There will be a window of 10 minutes either side of the start and finish of each class in which the door will be opened. Late comers will not be admitted. If you need to contact the space directly during class the direct number is 0121 439 2530 and select option 9.
Parents will not be admitted back into the space until 10 minutes before the end of their child’s class.
What Aerial Level is my child?
If your child is new to circus we ask you to come along to a Level 1 class and from this we can let you know what class would be suitable. If your child has had extensive experience in aerial please email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us a little about their training and we can tell you what class would be appropriate.
I don’t know what type of CircusMASH class to bring my child along to? What would be best for them.
In our Saturday Recreation class, youth get to try a little bit of everything through play. They can see what they connect with and we can talk to you after class about what other classes may be suitable.
I want my child to come along to CirqueStars but we do can’t a weekly class.
Unfortunately we are unable to allow a place on CirqueStars unless you are able to attend a weekly class. CirqueStars is all about learning to perform and if youth do not attend a week class they will not build the necessary technique skills that they need to be able to perform. Technique is not taught on CirqueStars. It’s all about creating performance.
