CircusMASH Induction

Welcome to CircusMASH. We exist to inspire people, create togetherness and give everyone the tools to be anything that they want to be. Creativity gives us freedom, Circus gives us capability and community keeps us strong. Together they give us the skills to achieve the impossible.

We are so thrilled that you have decided to come along into our world. We are passionate about passing on our skills and offer a welcoming, friendly environment to challenge yourself safely and show yourself you can. We offer recreational, skill development and performance training wth a focus around building physical and mental strength… we all could do with a bit of that from time to time. We also offer funded programmes of training for youth that want to work towards a career in the beautiful field of circus.

What to wear…
Tight fitting clothing that covers knees, armpits and middle. Joggers/TShirt/All in one’s/Gym wear perfect. Please NO zips or stick out sequins. It rips our equipment. Training shoes. The equipment hurts when you first start so the more you layer up, the easier your body will take to it.

What to bring…
A bottle of water or a packed lunch if you are on the Sunday CirqueStars course.

Parents in the space…
We find youth work harder without their parents around, especially with some of the scary things that we ask them to do. We like to help them understand fear, and why our brain sometimes makes us not want to try things. With parents around their safety net makes them run away from what they might be scared of. You know your children better than us, if you are worried,  you are absolutely welcome to  stay but we ask that you allow them to settle so you feel comfortable that they are ok… and then allow us to help them understand how to overcome every fear that they will ever have. We have a space access policy in place in all youth sessions. The door will now have a code lock on and the space will be locked during youth class times. There will be a window of 10 minutes either side of the start and finish of each class in which the door will be opened. These times will be posted on the inside and outside of entrance. Late comers will be admitted into the space but please knock the door. Parents will not be admitted back into the space until 10 minutes before the end of their Childs class.

Your first session
Please ensure you come a little early if it is your first class so you can fill out our Youth Registration form.

Our Youth Team
We have a fantastic youth team, who are all passionate about the development of circus arts in education. Please make sure you stick around long enough to meet us all at the start of term!

Questions/Concerns
If you ever have any questions or concerns that you want to raise please email joe@circusmash.co.uk. There is also a feedback section on our youth portal.

Can’t wait to see you in class. As soon as the kids are hooked… it won’t be long until you want to give it a try yourself parents! … Don’t think we’re joking either.

FAQ

What Level is my child?
If you have been to a CircusMASH class before please visit our ‘level checker’ on the kids Training page on the website. Simply type in your child’s full name and our system will tell you what level they are at. We update this every term. If your child has not been to a class before you are welcome to start at Level 1 or recreation class. All new students that have previously done circus elsewhere will be required to attend a level 1 class for assessment. We will then inform you of the appropriate level to attend.

I don’t know what type of CircusMASH class to bring my child along to? What would be best for them.
Please head over to the ‘Forms & Downloads’ tab on the information portal on the Kids Training page where you will find a PDF that explains the differences between all of our classes. You know your child better than us, and you will know what type of learner they are. If you have any questions please drop us an email.

I want my child to come along to the CirqueStars Performance course but we can’t make it every week.
Unfortunately we are unable to allow a place on the course unless you are able to attend every week. This is because we are working towards a performance and without children there every week, it is hard and unfair to other students. We do run this programme for three terms out of the year though.

Feedback

If you have 5 minutes we would really appreciate any feedback that you have… Thanks so much in advance.

News & Updates

September 4th 2017

Welcome back to term parents! Hope you have all had a fabulous summer. We are so ready to get our teeth stuck back into this term and create our new show RETROGRADE that will take place in December. Tickets on sale soon.

“A fizzy step back to a time you recall, a place or a thing or a figure 8 ball, From the top of the clock to the back of the time, she presents herself through the art of the rhyme. When he leaves and they’ve gone and she’s all by herself, at that stint of that place when it fell off the shelf…”

General Update
Please note that there are some changes to the schedule this term. We have now introduced Level 3 circus skills on Thursday at 5.15pm. This years winter show will be built around the CirqueStars adult and youth sessions on Sundays and there may be opportunities for other students in development and recreation classes to join in with the performance. Please email joe@circusmash.co.uk if your young ones would like to take part. They MUST be available for all performance times and a tech rehearsal from 6-9pm on 14th December. We have been busy develop the website to make things a little easier to navigate and give us more of a platform to communicate with you guys. This term we have taken on another member of staff to develop our monitoring and evaluation in all classes so we’ll be measuring progress in a lot more detail and hope to have an area of the site for you to log in and see your childs progress pretty soon. You are now able to check your child’s level on our youth portal page. Please give us feedback… it is the only way we know it’s all working well.

From September 4th 2017 we have new space access policy in place. The door will now have a new code lock on and the space will be locked during youth class times. Please read our full space access policy here.

We are looking for volunteers to help with this years winter show RETROGRADE. If you are able to help us out please CLICK HERE for more details.
